Skiing

Alpine skiing
Mittenwald and its surroundings offer many opportunities for skiing.
Alpine skiing fun can be found in the nostalgic family ski area Kranzberg/Luttensee, right on Mittenwald’s doorstep – easy to reach with the free ski and guest bus.
Practice slopes and easy to intermediate slopes await the skier. Beginners can make their first turns here and more advanced skiers look forward to the summit descent. On Tuesdays and Thursdays you can even ski by floodlight. Several inns and ski huts invite you to warm up.
Mittenwald offers the longest freeride descent in Germany with the Dammkar. From the Karwendelbergstation it goes 7 km long on the secured, unprepared runway between towering rock walls through downhill. Swing through the powder snow and be the first to paint soft arcs in the snow!

Ski tours and snowshoe tours
If you love to walk through untouched nature and leave your tracks in the snow, Mittenwald offers you many opportunities to be on the move with touring skis or with snowshoes. Climb up through the sparse beech forests of the Kranzberg or conquer the Dammkar – our ski schools provide guides if you want expert guidance.
