Alpine Skiing
Mittenwald and its surrounding area offer many opportunities for skiing.
Alpine skiing possibilities can be found in the nostalgic family ski Kranzberg / Luttensee, directly nearby – it can be easily reached with the free ski and guest bus.
There are easy slopes for beginners and easy to moderate slopes for skiers. Beginners can try out first moves and advanced skiers are looking forward to ski downhill. Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can even ski under floodlight. Several guesthouses and huts invite you to warm you up.
The Dammkar at Mittenwald is the longest free ride downhill in Germany. There is a 7 km long secured, unprepared slope in-between towering rock walls to the valley starting at the Karwendel cable railway station. Swing through the powder snow and be the First who leaves his trail in the snow!

Ski and snowshoe tours
If you love to walk through untouched nature and to leave your trail in the snow, Mittenwald offers you many opportunities with your touring skis or snowshoes. Ascend through the beech forests of Kranzberg or to the Dammkar – if you like you can ask at one of our local ski schools for a guide.
