Winter hiking in the Mittenwald mountains

Nature beckons with crystal clear air, glittering snow, blue skies and sunshine. This is pure vacation!

After a leisurely breakfast at Sonnenbichl, you can wobble down the Kranzberg or ski miles of cross-country trails, You can trudge through the snowy forest on touring skis or snowshoes, or skate circles on the frozen mountain lakes.
Mittenwald connoisseurs say a vacation here is worthwhile at any time of year, but winter is the most charming, it shows itself most versatile: festive at Christmas and New Year’s Eve, quiet and contemplative in the first weeks of the new year and cheerfully exuberant in the carnival season.

Mittenwald offers a wide range of sports in winter. Most guests prefer to hike through the snowy winter forest of Mittenwald around the Hoher Kranzberg. You can use all hiking trails on well-cleared paths.
Touring ski enthusiasts here climb through snowy, lonely forests and find many opportunities to ski down in deep snow. A 7 km natural toboggan run starts at the Berggasthof St. Anton. And on the north side of the Kranzberg, excellently groomed slopes offer skiers true winter pleasure.

Winter hiking – that is wellness on foot!
Hike through the snowy winter forest – the sun shines from the blue sky, the snow crunches under your shoes, the clear air lets you breathe deeply. Well cleared hiking trails around the Hoher Kranzberg invite you to relaxing, restful walks and hikes. Cozy ski huts and inns are waiting to host the hikers.
Almost all hiking trails – except for the paths to the huts in the Karwendel – are also easily passable in winter.
For the winter hiker, the frozen Lautersee and Ferchensee, which lie as if enchanted under a thick blanket of snow.
